About Toontown Online

Disney's Toontown Online (usually I just call it Toontown) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MMORPG) where you create “Toons” (cat, dog, rabbit, monkey, horse, duck, mouse, bear, or pig) and then play with them in a virtual world consisting of:

  1. Neighborhoods – Different themed areas in Toonwon; Donald’s Dock, Minnie’s Melodyland, Daisy Gardens, Toontown Central, etc.

    • Playgrounds - Areas of Toontown that there are no cogs. Each neighborhood has a playground. In them, you can fish and play trolley games to earn Jellybeans (Toontown’s currency). Or if you like, just run around – it’s actually really entertaining, lol. Certain playgrounds have special activities like Kart Racing (Toontown Central) and Mini-Golf (Chip n' Dale's Acorn Acres).

  2. Streets – Connect neighborhoods to one another, or neighborhoods to Cog Headquarters. They are lined with witty named shops relating to neighborhoods theme. Cogs walk around in the streets and you can battle them by running into them.

  3. Cog Headquarters - Large areas that are permanently controlled by Cogs and headed by a giant-sized Cog boss. There you can defeat cogs in the main area, defeat a factory, or fight the main Cog boss with up to 8 other toons.

  4. Toon Estates – They are where your Toons live and are free of cogs. There you can garden (flowers, gag trees, statues), order items from Clarabelle’s cattelog, or play with your pet Doodle.

Every Toon starts out with 15 Laff points. Laff points determine your health, “A happy Toon is a healthy Toon!” From there, you can start playing!

The whole object of the game is to train your Toon by completing Toontasks (Like quests: you’re assigned to “Defeat this # of Cogs.” or “This # of Cogs on this street, ie. Silly Street, in this Neighborhood, ie. Toontown Central.”).

Cogs are evil robots disguised as business workers that are trying to take over Toontown. They are classified in 4 categories: Bossbots, Lawbots, Cashbots, and Sellbots. Gags are the items your Toon uses to “kill” Cogs. The basic gags are “throw” and “squirt.” Everyone starts off with the lowest levels; a cupcake and squirting flower. The more cogs you defeat, the more experience points you get and you get access to higher level gags. To be able to use different types of gags, you have to train for them by completing a series of Toontasks.

When you finish a Toontask, you return back to the Toon who gave you it (a Toon HQ Officer or shop owner – NPC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-player_character) and they give you a reward such as jellybeans, Laff point boost, Gag Training Animation Track, or other things like your Toon being small, transparent, etc.

I could, quite honestly, go on a long time talking about Toontown. Despite it being designed for a younger audience, it can get pretty complicated when your Toon gets tougher tasks and you progress in the game. Even though I’m 14, almost 15, I absolutely love this game. xD

Here is what the main menu looks like when you are choosing a Toon to play on. When creating a Toon, you choose their color, species, and sex. When naming them, you can type in your own name which then has to be approved by the Toon Council, or put together pre-selected “safe” words to create a wacky, crazy, or silly name.

Below is a look at the map section of your “Schticker Book” with all the neighborhoods unlocked. If your Toon has not yet visited a neighborhood, it will show up on the map as an area covered by clouds.
